The Center for Minority Business Development operates out of the Office of the President under the governance of Prince George's Community College . In a teaming effort with the college, many of our cohort members particpate in weatherization training offered by Workforce Development. In addition,a variety of courses are available as well.
The Construction and Energy Institute at Prince George's Community College is the umbrella for all construction-and energy-related courses, programs and partnerships. The array of offerings is provided through a number of components, including skilled trade programs, construction management, green construction and national certifications.

Jerome T. Countee, Jr. Director of Workforce DevelopmentJerome T. Countee Jr. is Director of Workforce Development at Prince George’s Community College. As Director, Mr. Countee oversees all contract activity for the Workforce Development Institutes (WDI) and the Center for Business and Industry Training (CBIT). He is responsible for providing leadership to a team of WDI Program Directors and CBIT Training Coordinators tasked with promoting continuing education, workforce development, and lifelong learning to government, association, and industry professionals. Specifically, Mr. Countee’s duties include formulating and directing the implementation of WDI’s / CBIT's operational plan for the delivery of credit and non-credit professional education, establishment of strategic business and industry partnerships, management of public and private sector client relations, and overseeing the marketing of workforce training and related organizational and business development services.
Mr. Countee has held positions at The George Washington University, and at University of Maryland University College where he was the Director of Professional Education and Workforce Outreach Programs. Mr. Countee worked five years in IBM’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Headquarters as an Information Technology Management Consultant and later as External Programs Manager. After leaving IBM, Mr. Countee spent the next two years as an entrepreneur, securing both a United States Patent and Trademark for the design of a product which he marketed internationally for brief time and later sold to a North Carolina-based department store chain. Prior to his tenure with IBM, Mr. Countee worked in the office of United States Senator Paul Sarbanes (D-MD), and before that, served as a Legislative Assistant for several members the Maryland General Assembly.
Mr. Countee holds an MPA from Western Kentucky University, and a BA in Political Science from UMBC where he earned a scholarship and was a four-year starter on the Men’s Basketball team. A native of Prince George’s County, Mr. Countee is a civic leader and community volunteer currently serving on several executive and advisory boards. Mr. Countee resides in Cheltenham, MD with his wife, daughter and son. |
